Every day environmental laboratories analyzes a long list of contaminants in soils, sediments, wastes and other solids matrices. Although, chromatography instruments have been substantial improved, the extraction process is still today the bottleneck and the most time-consuming procedure. By looking at the routine process of several contract laboratories around performing microwave solvent extraction, we defined the solution that led to creation of ETHOS X and fastEX-24 extraction rotor to specifically address the challenges of today’s environmental laboratories.
Based on the requirements of official methods such as the US EPA and the ASTM, the ETHOS X with fastEX-24 allows environmental labs to accomplish a wide variety of extraction procedure to analyses Semivolatile organics, PCBs, PAHs, Phenols, Pesticides, herbicides, dioxins and furans.
Microwave assisted extraction (MAE) overcomes the limitations of Soxhlet extraction, resulting in rapid sample preparation with reduced amounts of solvents while working at higher temperatures and pressures.
